DayTwo – Walking the Talk: The Real Cost of Building Software

Day 2 of our journey was spent out in the cold, quite literally. We set off from Roseberry Carpark at 8 am sharp, the thermometer reading minus two. It was the first of our regular #95tribe walks, and it gave us the chance to speak honestly about what we were building with SWAIN.

These walks are more than just exercise. They create space to challenge ideas, clarify thinking and check that we are still building something useful. That morning, we spoke about the real cost of building software. Not just money, but time, energy and waste.

What stood out was a shared belief that the fastest path to clarity is talking face to face. It set the tone for how we would continue: no big reveals, no fluff, just honest work and open discussion. That same mindset is what led us to build SWAIN in public.

Key takeaway

Builds that happen in isolation rarely survive. Ideas need fresh air and open debate.
